He is survived by his sister Mary Olinyk, and John Maksymec. Roy is predeceased by his parents Theodore and Anna (Polowy) Maksymec and his siblings: William Maksymec, Michael Maksymec, Steven Maksymec, Helen Borutski, Lilly Palinka, and many other beloved family and friends. In 1999, he and Beverly retired to an acreage on part of the original farm, where they lived happily until February 2023. ![]() Roy raised purebred Hereford cattle and a variety of crops. Wanting to reconnect with country living, he and Beverly bought a farm in 1967, south of Leduc, to raise their family. He achieved the designation of Civil Engineer during this time. Shortly thereafter he joined the Alberta Department of Highways where he surveyed, and designed many of Alberta's highways in all corners of the province. In 1942, he left the home farm to work in Edmonton. Roy grew up in Elk Point, Alberta, with four brothers and three sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Beverly four children, Greg Loose (Christine) Richard Loose (Carolyn) Betty Ann McBlain (William) and Allan Maksymec (Kathleen) as well as nine grandchildren: Jeremy Loose (Kelsey), Leanne McDonald (Rob) Colin Loose (Lindsey) Kyle Loose Melissa Loose (Lee) Kayleigh Maksymec, Alexandra Maksymec, Sienna Maksymec and Maximilian Maksymec, and four great-grandchildren: Quinn and Carter Loose (Colin) Casey Loose (Jeremy) and James Norsworthy (Leanne). Roy brought a spark of fun to every occasion, and his family and friends will cherish many wonderful moments spent together. ![]() He loved nature and greatly enjoyed the 56 years he spent on his farm south of Leduc with his wife of 63 years, Beverly Maksymec. ![]() Roy took great pleasure in challenging his family and friends to games of tennis, table tennis, frisbee, board games and cards. An avid sports fan and participant, he was a two-time silver medallist in the Alberta Senior Games in the 800m and frisbee golf events. Roy Maksymec of Leduc, Alberta, passed away on Augat age 99 following a brief illness.
